Georgy Tchaidze is the young Russian pianist whose excellent technique adopted to emotionally deep investigation of music material has made him vividly discussed all over the world – from London toShanghai.
Georgy was born In St. Petersburg and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory. Now he lives and studies in Berlin.
Since becoming 1st Prize Laureate of the Honens International Piano Competition in 2009, Tchaidze has performed throughout Europe, North America and Asia to great acclaim, including debuts at Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Oriental Arts Centre in Shanghai and Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, and at festivals including Canada’s Toronto Summer Music, Ottawa International Chamber Music, Germany's Kissinger Sommer, Young Euro Classic, Switzerland's Verbier, Septembre Musicale, Lucerne, Norway's Lofoten International Piano, Festspiellene i Nord-Norge and France’s Piano aux Jacobins.
He was also invited to perform for the Governor General of Canada at the special invitation of The Glenn Gould Foundation. In the summer 2015 Georgy Tchaidze was awarded 1st Prize at the 4th Top of the World International Piano Competition in Tromso, Norway and then asked to replace Sir Andras Schiff with his performances at the Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival.
The 2018/2019 season is highlighted by the performances at La Folle Journée festival in Nantes and Tokyo, La Roque d'Anthéron festival as well as recitals at Konzerthaus Berlin and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
The arrangements for the 2019/2020 season include collaborations with the same festivals, concerts with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Pavel Kogan and the Russian National Orchestra under the baton of Mikhail Pletnev as well as duet performances with violinist Nikita Boriso-Glebsky.
Tchaidze’s reputation as a sensitive collaborative pianist is blossoming. He toured extensively with Canada’s Cecilia String Quartet and performed with the esteemed Borodin Quartet. According to reviews, he confidently shared with his experienced stage partners accuracy and expressiveness of performing.
Tchaidze has three recordings on the Honens label: a live recording with Cecilia String Quartet, an all-Schubert album and a disc of works by Medtner, Mussorgsky and Prokofiev.
