Yovan Markovitch was born in France and began the cello in Chalon-sur-Saône with Alain COURMONT and then studied with Annie COCHET in the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt.
He entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in the classes of Maurice GENDRON and Michel STRAUSS, and for chamber music, Christian IVALDI and Roland PIDOUX. He graduated with first prices and then studied at Yale University with Aldo PARISOT.
Yovan Markovitch was a founder member of the CASTAGNERI Quartet and performed with it for 10 years. The Quartet studied with the members of the AMADEUS Quartet, the ALBAN BERG Quartet, the LASALLE Quartet, the HAGEN Quartet, the TOKYO Quartet, the CLEVELAND Quartet.In 2005, Yovan Markovitch joined the YSAŸE Quartetwith whom he made an important international career for 9 years.
From 2014,he's the cellist of the DANEL Quartet.
Yovan Markovitch is chamber music teacher in the Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique de Lyon and plays on a cello made by Petrus Guarnerius in Venezia in 1739.
