Musée Granet

One of the finest regional museums in France, created in 1838, the Musée Granet has "musée de France" status and is a respected institution in the town of Aix-en-Provence. The museum offers over 4,000 sq m of galleries, largely dedicated to the painting and sculpture collections. More than 750 works are on display offering a vast panorama of artistic creativity, from the primitives and the Renaissance to masterpieces of modern art and the exceptional Philippe Meyer donation, which features paintings and sculptures by Alberto Giacometti. In addition to the Jas de Bouffan landscape from the Meyer donation, the museum displays nine further oil paintings from throughout the career of Paul Cézanne, including the recent acquisition of his portrait of Emile Zola.
